HI Emma, the largest are just on the 90mm SL, but the rest are'nt far behind that.
the size book i mention is the national norm size book for showing fish, if any fish came on the bench larger than stated it used to be ammended at the end of the year.
as you can tell i used top show fish.
these books are printed yearly by the federations around the country, your would be the FBAS, mine is the FNAS plus you have yorkshires YAAS and the scottish book.
ask Mark when he come down soon to bring you one to browse through.

Stop showing these superb pictures of Mick's B dario Andy!! It makes me have a 'tear drop' in my eye for old U2 that i used to keep. You can just see the extra yellow bands that would of developed.

I had a single one for a while, hoping to pick up more. This one was a little pushy to the other fish in the tank.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

Emma, this is the largest and the smallest dario in the tank, in the adult you can see slight damage to the dorsal yet nothing at all on the youngster who was right in the middle of the battle.

Very interesting discussion!

There is a reference number quoted on FB against the max size quoted there, I wonder if this fish was definitely a B. dario at 6"?! I would love to see an image of it!

Here's a few old pics that show a juvenile alongside an adult. Although not as pronounced as in Mick's fish, you can just see the 'stripe splitting' starting on the adult (from the ventral side going upwards):

you and me both and i suspect everyone else about that pic, although fish base ain't bad they do get alot of things wrong so i err on caution whenever i'm searching for a certain fish.
i did have another site i used to go on that although it had no pics it gave you the valid name and any synonym it had and when, but i've lost the site name now.
Emma do you always get young dario so well marked and with that bright yellow bands, as i,ve only seen this type a few times, Andy calls them the yellow form.
great pics of great looking fish, still don't like them background pics though.

Hi Mick,

Yes, I get the B. dario direct from India and this supplier always sends specimens with this sort of appearance. I got a new batch of youngsters in on Tues night but haven't been back in to have a good look at them yet. I'd be surprised if they aren't the same type again, as they are from this same supplier.
