I see you modified the smaller diameter end and made it fit over 3/4" PVC. I think I will borrow that idea. (Thanks!)
I have found that these PH are not very stable because the large diameter end of the cone fits onto the PH with such a small overlap. Any way to make that part fit better, stronger?
Would there be significant increase in the flow if each PH was plumbed to 2 or more sponges? I am doing this with my filters, and have not noticed an increase in flow, but the sponges last longer between cleaning (more sponges, and the debris is spread out between them) There may be a pipe size issue with what I am doing, too. I had a lot of 1/2" PVC, sch 40 lying around, so set up things with that. I think I might see some increase in flow if I bought some 3/4" class 200 pipe. MUCH bigger ID.
AquaClear powerheads, Get the MAX

I wonder if I can butt in here with a question. I'm looking for a new powerhead for one of my hillie tanks. I currently run a Project PJP2001 (I think) into 20mm pvc to 2 quickfilters at the other end. The Project heats up the water something shocking and I desperately need something that runs cooler. We just had our first hot day (39C and it's still spring damnit) and I lost 5 ctenos. The water was 33C when I got home and despite waterchanging, bottles of ice etc I couldn't save them. Even though it is the highest tank in a stack of 3 it has run hotter than the others ever since I set it up with the Project, even in winter. My problem here in West Oz is lack of choice with brands. My local lfs stocks some Aquaclear I think, but mostly it's cheap junk around here. Any helpful suggestions appreciated.
Bob, I wonder if part of the answer for you will be to get the motor out of the water. Are there some canister filters available that would give you a lot of water flow? While these motors are also water cooled, they do seem to run cooler than a PH right in the tank.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Rio is my powerhead of choice Rocco, but I can't get them here anymore. I still run two of them in the other rivertanks and don't normally have a problem. They plug straight into the manifold arrangement.
Canisters aren't really an option in this setup Diana. The top of this tank is nearly 7 feet from the floor and there 's no room to put a canister next to it anyway. If I could find Rios in Perth it would be problem solved, but no such luck so far.
