For explanation: Gütersloh is town in Germany, where on September 20th and 21st this year takes place the annual meeting of BSSW, a german aquarists group for barbs, loaches, catfish and tetra. Look here: http://www.netzgeist.org/test_gebiet/archives/360 and http://www.bssw-online.de
The most members come from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, so that german is the language, but there are also international members in UK, U.S.A. and also in Japan.

How long has BSSW been going ? i seem to remember seeing them at an old friend of mine's , Dave Sidebottom !
Gerhard i think you may have sent them to him in the late eighties ? he used to run a magazine about Characins ! sadly not in existence anymore , though i couldnt understand them i kind of got the gist

Hi Piggy4,

BSSW was founded in 1988 in Gießen in Germany. I remember well this day. A few years before I launched an ISL (International Society for Loaches). About 20 members joined BSSW from the first minute.

I remember the name Dave Sidebottom from publications. After my knowledge he's not in the member list of BSSW.

No, I've only the hints from David here and Jörg Bohlen. But Jörg even says that "determine Cobitis only from a picture is like weather forecast without the datas of the last days"

In Aukrug I've had contact to the pondfish breeder mr. Kemnitz about C. taenia. Sadly without success, but I've been patient (and at the moment no space left )
