So far so good , i have observed a bit of aggresion , i.e body arching ,but i'm thinking that the cooler temp is limiting the resolve a little ! it is early days but i will keep updating , the colour seems mood dependant ?

Unlucky Andy, this is exactly what we found, depsite multiple hiding spots. The patches may not be a sign of disease but constant in-fighting. I think each specimen must hold a huge territory in the wild. Keep us informed of how the remaining 3 get on.

Checking the 3 remaining Crimsons, so far so good , i'm actually in the process of aquiring Micks M.Triangularis, 11 of the beautys ! i have decided to house them in the Crimson's tank , it will be interesting to see if the requirements for the Triangularis's will surfice for the Crimson's these requirements are simple ! just house them on a bare base , i.e no ornaments or rocks , its worked a treat for Mick, believe it or not , his Triangularis's live happily side by side , no fighting ! i know its not very asthetic but it does stop the aggression, stops their need to make territories, actually this isn't exactly true, Mick put some wool mops in and they liked to lie under these, which is interesting because i suppose they create blind spots, i guess it must be solid objects that they can defend, that must trigger their aggressive behaviour ? so if somone wanted to keep them in a planted tank perhaps it would work?

Whooo! Good luck, Andy. Personally i would put them Crimsons into your Syncrossus tank. The Syncrossus totally ignore any other loaches apart from there own kind. And it's a larger tank. I personally think these loaches just need space! More room the better.

Keep us updated mate!

Hi Graeme, just one problem , already got 3 Sumo's [Balteata's] in with the Syncrossus's , just on my own experience , the one loach i had a problem with , mixing with Syncrossus's was lepidecephalus sp/s , for some reason the Syncrossus loved to come up behind the Leps, and give them a little nip, i dont know if you or anybody else has experienced this ? having said that Graeme, i would agree that nemacheilius do make good tank mates with Syncrossus's ,i think they are too quick for their larger cousins ! anyway i've already mixed the 11 Triangularis, with so far, good results , Graeme you really must try a bare based tank for a good sized group of Triangularis, the transformation is marvelous ! the once tigers with attitude, are now like little pussycats , actually as i said i have some sunken wool mops , and they hide under these , but dont seem to defend them , i bet Java moss would do the trick ? i wonder if M.Guntheri would react similar to the Triangularis's , in this type of layout? i must credit mick with trying this setup out first .
