That does stink. I have two local stores and then the franchises. And, of course, Wally World.

The localy places know their stuff, which is good. The PetSmart I have has healthy tanks and fish, but they are about as dumb as bricks when it comes to the fish themselves. The Petco I have is the same as PetSmart, but there is one guy who seems to know what he's selling.

Walmart, lol! They had a longnosed gar who's head was bent at an exact right-angle there once, and I know a guy who went there and looked at it, played dumb, and asked the manager if that's how they naturally looked, and was told that they were supposed to look like that.

Why is Pets Plus infamous?

Haha yeah I dislike the fact that Wally World sells fish, that's horrible.

Pets Plus is the palce that sold me the 4 fish that died the first day all of this started happening. I also heard from the Petsmart I went to in order to buy the meds that other people have complained about Pets Plus. Also, I think someone here isn't fond of them, either.

See, all this makes me wish my parents and I still owned our little fish store, we did fairly well and could order needed supplies... :(

Generally, one should not halfdose antibiotics, it makes them ineffective. If you decided on antibiotic treatment, at the very least locate Minocycline (Maracyn2), and treat with these two. ThatPetPlace has it and should be able to overnight.

good luck

Okay, point taken. Full does will go in today.

Anyhow, all fish are still okay and back to their normal begging routine. The modesta with the strange behavior seems to be feeling much better, and is swimming and eating normally. I'm thinking I'll give him another half dose of the Melafix (most people recommend a half-dosage of that, right?) and then see about transfering him back into the main tank? Should I keep him in the Q-tank for another day?

Also, still thinking about calling some vets just to figure out what the dead fish were killed by, so I can better prepare for this in the future...

But the good news is that everyone is doing fine and is happy again, modesta included!

All too often the cause is not certain but I’m glad you didn’t lose all your fish.

I’d wait awhile before netting the fish from the q-tank mainly to avoid the stress of netting and transfer

All righty, that shouldn't be a problem... I'm just afraid he's rather lonely. How long would you recommend I keep the modesta in there?
