Raphael plays with clowns, 1 Mb video

Post by wasserscheu » Fri Oct 26, 2007 12:05 pm

During a break of doing my setup, I found Raphael playing with clowns…

That setup looks different now, with sand also on bottom, more plants, more stones and coconuts. I´ll work on a “Nuts ´n´ Trash” posting, when time allows, to explain the project …

I just run a test, PLEASE TURN OFF THE SPEAKErs, by all means, I´ve no idea where the noise comes from... and when the guys stop moving , the video is over, don´t know why the indicator keeps going...

Nice videos. Do they always have fun like that and follow each other? Looks like they really enjoy it in there.

Clowns-6 is a group and more is never too many, providing the aquarium is large enough.

Very nice Wolfram. It gives the weird impression tha there is no water in the tank and the fish float in the air.

Post more if you can!

Love the set-up witht he poted plants and runnin'space.
We had similar in Uni with 1cm deep gravel on bottom and plants in pots at different levels. Easy to clean.
Try some courser gravel over the sand around the plants so fish-digging doesn't remove all your plant dirt before roots get going.

That is absolutely hilarious! They really do look like they are having so much fun being chased around the maze by the catfish. I can almost hear them cackling with glee.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Just a few words to Raphael. He (or is she a girl? Let me check… looks like she is a girl, girls have more solid brown on the belly, boys more “marble-brown”), was my daughters pick out of a book. I told her, it´s no good, due to hunting too much, so she meant, “than get bigger fish…” – hmmm, well it was here tank, here hobby.
Now it´s mine  :D with her Raphael. I guess he´s so good tempered, growing up in the kid´s room, and sharing his cave with the clowns, ho grew up underneath his belly – basically. Until today, the clowns want to share holes with him, but with all botines in one whole it´s too crowded for him. In the old setup, he growled quit often (sounds like vibrating cell-phone).

Now I see him often just sleeping outside (nightactive), sticking his head into plants, Botines are too busy for him…
In guess, he was feed up, to continue that game in the new setup and tried to chase them away from HIS cave. But Emma was reading the clowns temper right away, they may have just made fun of him…

Raphael can be hunting though, he just isn´t good at curves. He shoots forward from standing postion like a pike (Esox lucius). He even stands good in current, I was surprised, even though his shape is basically an “egg with fins” he handles current very well…

It´s interesting, most loaches always want to hide close to him when, I put them into the tank first. Even the black kuhli were hiding below his belly, they almost entered his mouth, they were VERY thin that time…
