So I saw a nice looking bunch of hillstreams in the LFS and got three of them. They all have similar markings, but I was wondering is they infact Sewellia lineolata, or something else. I managed photos of two of them. The third is hiding. :?

They are fast little buggers!

Are these the ones that are commonly referred to by fish stores as 'butterfly loaches'?

LOL funny you should mention that. They were labled as "butterfly plecos" in this particular store.

Thank you Emma for confirming the ID for me. :D

"Butterfly" is a name that has traditionally been used to describe Beaufortia kweichowensis, but gets generally applied to other sucker-bodied Hillstreams too. It hardly makes positive ID any easier for people new to these fish.
