hmm... that would reverse "our" sexing items though. I took that picture on 9.11.07 She is doing fine.

I tried to get another shot, but it´s not easy with my camera...

Hi Wolfram,
I've been looking through my pics of female
S. lineolata, but none are as clear as yours when cropped close-up. Also you have captured that one in good lighting, which shows the detail of the skin up very well. I think what we are seeing here are sensory pores.
Here's a bad pic of one of my females:
And closer:
I can make out little bumps under the skin. Not as pronounced as the tubercles seen on the males.

Hi Emma,
Thank you so much, for looking into detail to such an extend (in the truest sense of these words ).
I´m pretty sure your great pictures (which I still have no chance to compete with) show the same “skin-features” as I found on that one pic. (I checked all my other pics and none came close to that resolution – a one of a million lucky shot with my little camera).
There is so much to explore – one needs more time –somehow this loach research reminds me of the Ontario license plates…”It´s all yours to discover”… I found that amasing, to find notes on licence plates in North America.
Wishing a nice day … in Munich the sun is even showing a little.
