This is scarface... as you can see near it's tail base the black line does nog run totaly from top to bottom.
Most of it's scares are on the on its other side. It went through a water hose right into my backyard and it must have been there in the sun for well over 15 minutes. when i found the fish it was very stiff but it moved a bit... it's spines were out and could not put them back in i guess. since it had it out for at least 2 hours.
at first he or she did not swim but after pushing it like a boat in the water the movement came back and at last it swam on it's on a bit.
The first 2 days it would not eat at all.. but after six weeks of special care and being alone in a "hospital tank" with daily small water changes it was bigger as his brothers and sisters.
It still has soms darker and lighter spots on one side. the wound was about 2/3 of it's body it looked like a giant burn mark. but it went away very slowely over the weeks.
i was lucky the fish did not got any complications like fungus of white dots or other things... i did not even add any medications...
on his head (above his eye) it's still a bit red but it's not very clear on the picture

yup water change. never thought one could get in it... never saw him go in... it didn't make him scared of tight spots anyway... he got in my powerhead outtake (can't get in the pump) a few days back when i turned it off for a minute or so because i wanted to move the powercable...

that's why i stopped sticking the hose out the window when doing water changes, i siphon into a big clear tub now. i find a lot of danio fry this way
glad you were able to save the fish, i love modesta. i hope the fish has a healthy and full recovery

those grey-loaches seem to be specially crazy going into the tightest cracks. Most really small hiding places, built for Aborichthys, I found a Y. Caudipunctata in there. It appears impossible - don“t ask me how in the world they squeeze in there... (it also were those who right away went into my connecting pipes between the tanks...)

well i made myself a eheim intake protector on the hose so no fish can get in anymore. but i stayed with the hose and never saw him getting in. or even think that he could fit in...
my modesta and the morleti also are always trying to find or checking small spaces...

funky fish
I find my skunks in my foam filter all the time.
The little hooligans have grown quite a bit too.
