he had a VERY short body compared to the other loaches in the tank but he was easily twice as tall. his head was double the size of the other loaches. there was obviously something different about him. i think i've seen a few pics of clown loaches on this forum that were similar. he looked healthy except for the vastly irregular proportions. i was tempted to purchase him but refrained for the moment. any ideas on what this might be and what causes it?

A long shot, but was it anything like Martin's Czech-bred
B. histrionica specimens?:

no unfortunately not. those are beautiful fish btw. i know i've seen some really stumpy clown pics around here that it kinda reminded me of. it looked like some kind of birth defect or mutation. it looked like someone took an average sized 2 inch yoyo and compressed him into a 1 inch yoyo. GIANT HEAD. on a side note i did pick up a single yoyo because his patter was Vs instead of Ys and he didnt have any dots between them. i'm sure it will change when he gets older, i just had never seen a yoyo without the middle markings. i'll try and post some pics later.

size and shape vary in nature.
