Hi all,
I came across this at a Japanese site, and I find it really nice. But what is it?

Very good question! It looks like a Botia species, but ... ??

It has the shape of a juvenile Botia dario. But those markings......?

The head shape definately looks like dario to me.
I have seen many oddly marked darios lately, but this is the extreme.

Certainly a Botia dario with unusual markings or a Hybrid crap thing!
Looks active also....(high sprung dorsal...etc)

What did they call it? Something with Japanese characters?

Looks like a dario-yo-yo or something. Beautiful fish, though.

Yeah, it sure looks interesting whatever it is.
I'm more of a pl*co enthusiast myself, thats why I keep a close eye on that site, among others. With pl*cos, the Japanese sell each individual for a certain price, depending on it's beauty. The more striking, the more expensive they are. Pl*cos, and I'm mainly talking about Hypancistrus species here, often vary a lot in appearance. This results in some very striking oddities on the market, and these are usually shipped to Japan because of their value there.
I guess this Botia may be another example of this. Perhaps it's a weird looking dario which ended up in that store because they are big on oddities...just a thought
The coolest thing would be if this is a new species because it sure looks nice.

Could it be something like a leptobotia or a parabotia?
I first though dario too!
