Loaches Online Forum

At the moment I feed my Kubotais frozen blood worms. I hear someone say they were "too rich" for these loaches. But I tried putting in cucumber in the tank, but they didn't touch it. Whats a good recommendation for feeding Kubotais? As well as clowns. Though more importantly Kubotais for now because I don't have any clowns yet lol

Hi Directorate, I have 5 Kubotai and 5 Yo-Yo's and feed them Blood Worms,Daphnia,Brine Shrimp,good quality Flake,Hikari Sinking Wafers and Algae Wafers,Tetramin Crisps, Live Black Worms,Live Brine Shrimp and Live Mosquito Larvae. I only feed frozen foods every 2 days and live food is only a treat 2 or 3 times a month. They really love the Hikari Wafers and Click like crazy when fed them. They also really love the live food and devour it in minutes. My loaches are not keen on cucumber or zuchini but did munch on broccoli a little. I think a varied diet helps to make a balanced diet and that bloodworms daily is too much. My loaches have grown very well and a good diet and good flow in the tank has made them strong and fit as well. Cheers Graeme.

try getting more frozen food such as mussel, prawns, mysis, krill, and the usual glass-worm, mossie larvae, adult brine shrimp.
also try earthworm out of your garden chopped pretty small.

veg wise fish are like kids, try to find one they like, shelled garden peas, courgettes, mine prefer this to cucumber.

did you remove the seeds before you put it in the tank, they make a mess and mine don't like them but they'll pick at the flesh and skin.

everything you do in your tank is going to trial and error, what works for one won't work for another.

You must be very careful of pesticides though if using worms from yer garden..
