do i have enough current?

Post by libingboy » Fri Apr 21, 2006 11:03 am

i have the following filtration in my 4x2x2... inhabited by a school of clown loaches from 3-5"
1 eheim 2026
1 eheim 2217
1 "eheim knock off" with stated flowrate 1200l/hr. in terms of media capacity probably a bit more than 2026...
2 sponge filters hooked to an ac/dc airpump... im not sure about the rate, but they're quite strong...

i was wondering whether i still need to add a powerhead? the water is already pretty choppy as it is. im concerned about the powerhead mainly due to the heat it generates. Im in singapore, and in my old tank (a 50 gallon tank) the water can hit 30, 31 pretty easily without a heater if i have 2 powerheads inside (and no canisters). Granted, the surface area has now doubled, (which increases evaporation) but my water temp is now at 28C, which is what i already want.

Sounds good to me. I don't think you'll need the powerhead.

Martin.
