Dojo loach with a baaaaaaad sense of humor...

So I came home a few days after getting my normal-colored dojo and found him laying on his side. Upset, I got the net and reached in to get him. As soon as it poked him, he took off like a shot.

He's eating fine and snuggling with my golden and acting completely normal otherwise. The other fish are acting fine as well.

Last night he was laying belly-up on the bottom of the tank. I bent to look closer and again, he took off like a shot.

I've been watching him and he seems to not like laying on his belly like a *normal* loach. Or maybe he just likes scaring me.

But it did help me name him - George (as in George Jones, the "possum").

Anyone else have a sadistic dojo?

Yes. I have, at various times seen all manner of 'dead' fish in the tanks. So far they have almost all come to life when I try to remove the 'corpse'.
Clown Loaches are notorious for this, and other Loaches do it, too. Including Dojos.

My personal theory is that loaches do this just to wind us up. They'll eventually get bored of doing it if you don't react

LOL, he's evil! I've thought he was dead like 10 times since I got him...he looks pretty awful laying on his back fins-up.

I've noticed my weather loaches do this often. Always gets me.
I always thought it was botiine loaches which did this.

I think he hides under the tree stump and laughs at me everytime he sees me panic and run for the net.
