My husband has surprised me with this tank and cabinet:


Lovely as it is,I'm wondering whether it will be suitable as a fast flowing river set up due to the bow front,any one have any ideas?

I'm getting a large Ehiem canister next week.I can also put a manifold in for extra flow.

It's 4' long,2' high and 18" at the widest point of the bow.

i can see no problem in it becoming a river setup, go for it.
you can always direct the flow on either the power head or the eheim nozzle.
look foreward to seeing it when it's complete.

So would you direct the flow slightly into the bow,or straight down the tank?

yup i think it's the way i'd go it should eliminate to many dead spots in the tank imo.

I would avoid the bow, and make that into a calmer area, perhaps a sand substrate surrounded by some nicely arranged driftwood and stones.

I would aim the powerhead into the bow area if it were me.
I have aimed the powerhead slightly to toward the front of my smallest river tank and created a current that, instead of bouncing off the back wall, sweeps around it and along the back wall toward the HOB filter intake. It works well and should work well in your bowfront.
