I am pretty sure they are Cheni but wanted to check with the experts. This is just one of them the other has the same patterns but is much lighter and has no red.

Does anyone know if the red is an age thing?

I really have to stop going to the FS or I am gong to have to get yet another tank...oh the wife would just love that.. :x

It looks like a gastromyzon to me--possibly ocellatus, but I'm not big on loach IDs.

You know after checking things out a bit more I think you are correct. That does seem to be a better 'fit'

Thanks!

That looks like a Gastromyzon ocelatus to me too.
I have had several of these and not all had the red on the tail
I think it may have something to do with maturity level, diet or perhaps region of origin, I'm not sure. Some even have blue in addition to red, on the tail.
