there is a good chance i am getting another tank soon (even though the 70g isnt done yet

), but due to space limitations, i can only get a 30" tank (not enough room for a 36")
what loach species are suitable for such a tank? there are 3 sizes that are 30" long that i have to think about: 20 long, 29 and 37 gallon
i know kuhlis would work, but are there any others that arent too rare?

Check out the species index for potential species that don't grow too large. I would think that a small school (5-6) of Botia kubotai would work as long as you don't go nuts on other fish - they seem reasonably easy to get these days. I keep mine with kuhli, and they get along great. Also Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki (dwarf loach) if you can get them. I have no experience with them, but people rave about them. Where in BC are you? - if in Vancouver, contact April at Pets Beautiful - she can get most stuff for you. Her quality is unsurpassed and prices are great too. She also ships if you live outside the GVRD near an airport serviced by WestJet.

good to see another person from BC
im located in Parksville, and i know of a few fish stores locally, and one can special order any common species and some rarer ones direct from singapore i believe, then quarentines them for 2 weeks free of charge
im planning on having kubotai in the 70g, so i dont know if i want to have them in two tanks.. so far i am looking at sids and kuhlis
