Introducing myself with some pics

Hey all.

I've been reading these forums and lol for such a long time I figured it was time to register. I also thought that as I will be needing to ask some questions in the near future, it would be rude not to introduce myself first :)

I often refer to LOL over on another forum that I frequent (PFK) under the same username, as I consider the information here first class. I've also got the book that I've managed to read twice over now, excellent reading :D :D

So here's some photos of the two species that I currently keep in a 34 US gallon tank. I have 6 B. striata, 9 Y. sidthimunki (3 recent additions), 6 Otocinclus sp., 7 Glowlights, 2 Black Neon Tetra & numerous cherry shrimp. The tank is overstocked at this point but there is a new larger tank in the pipeline to house the B. striata. The filtration is working tremendously though and nitrates have only ever peaked at 5ppm. I water change 25% twice weekly.

I've added photos, most of which show some of the loaches resting in a much favoured area of the tank :)

My photography skills won't win any prizes, but it's the best I have to offer

even though the tank is overstocked your fish are in excellent condition.
is that south wales in the UK?.
as us brits are buggers for overstocking.
and your pics are good enough for me.

Welcome to the forums! Pictures are grand, keep them coming. Perhaps a tad over-stocked but it seems like you do more water changes than many. Looking forward to pics of a new tank set-up in the near future! :)

Hi Bully - welcome to Loaches Online. :D

Your loaches are beautiful. 8) What are your plans for their forthcoming tank upgrade?

Hi Bully, Your Photos are good and your fish are great. Those Striatas are soooo beautiful. Thanks for "joining-in" I wonder how many others like yourself are lurking out there and invite them all to join-up and say hello. Cheers Graeme.

It certainly is yes, I live a scratch outside Pontypridd :)

I'm hoping to create an asian river biotope that's specific for the striata. I have a fast-flowing river nearby that I hope to use for inspiration (and likely the stone  ). Initial plans are to have tank custom built and incorporate a sump. Due to space limitations the tank will have to max out at a 100cm wide (3'3"), but I'm hoping to have a tall tank, that way I can hopefully create a paludarium effect.

The Sids will remain in the current tank :)
