hi all
well i'm near to full limit in all my tanks but i could'nt resist these few fish at my favourite shop pier aquatics of wigan.
here's a pic of one of the two male kubotai i got which is around 5 ins SL, as well as a Y caudipunctata, and to give this fish the limelight the redtailed garra.
which i have seen before at another shop but these i could'nt resist getting a couple,
piggy4 also bought 5 of them as they are immaculate.
just a little history on the last fish i first saw a pic on petfrd 5 yrs ago, it was posted by Kamphol,
as far as i know it still to be classified.

So what is the purpose of the snout on the last fish? Looks like someone took a bite. Does it help the fish in a specialized feeding routine?

There is a really beautiful one (well at least in my warped opinion) that I haven't seen for some time called G. bicornuta. This species not only has the face only a mother could love, but 'horns' protruding out from the head too. Not sure why Garra have the weird protrusions, but the mouth is in the position it is to allow them to hang on in fast current whilst feeding. The mature males of many of the species show pronounced tubercles, similar to what we see in some species of hillstream loach.

Now wonder I like Garras. A little like loaches and a little like catfish (the sucker mouths -- the not always so beautiful, but full of character)

I'll keep my eyes open.

I have to admit when you told me about the kubotai's I was very tempted but I haven't got a chance of getting over to Pier in the next week or so

do you know how many they got in and how many are left

Mark, i think neil said he had 30 pieces come through. i you want the larger ones give him a call, he might be able to save them for you.
