Hey!
I have got 5 new Kuhli loaches and they are really skinny and their size are around 4-6cm.
I bought the a week ago..they look much better now.
The question is that they have different patterns..what kind of loaches are they?
Why is that some of them have so light colors?

What shall i give them to get them gain weight?
Thanks.
Robert

I read somewhere that the light colored ones might not make it. Keep us posted please.
I feed mine a combination of shrimp wafers, bio blend wafers and every now and then an algae wafer. They attack everything as you can see in the avitar. These guys were small at that point. The biggest one is almost the size of my index finger after 7 months.

Weak colors may mean:
1* Unhealthy fish, which will not last long.
2* Normal fish that will quickly recover its color.
3* Hypomelanistic fish (related to being an albino, but not quite).
4* Pattern shifter (bars will rearrange, but the fish will be weaker than normal while this happens).
5* Maybe something else...
You'll know better in a week....

I have cleaned my tank this week and i found all 5 Kuhli loaches alive and their colors are great and they also have gained some weight.
So this means they are doing fine

That's good news! Once they have stablized, they'll live for quite a long while. Usually the journey from the suppliers to the importers is too tortuous for them, so they tend to arrive in dismal condition at the fish shop. Good luck and have fun with them!

From what I've heard and had experience with, this latest crop of imports has been doing fairly well. My ten guys are doing great and a couple of other people have had similar luck.

More recent pics and you can see that they are getting much better, they dont have that snake look anylonger

and here is one very close to the L-001.

What should i feed them?
They are getting some frozen bllod worms, pebbles and algea wafers.
Greats,

Mine love all frozen foods (daphnia, brine and mysis shrimp, bloodworms etc) and shrimp pellets but because I feed a fair amount of veggies to the applesnails in my tank, I've found out the khulis also love blanched zucchini. The one time I fed blanched kale (stinky!) a khuli was rooting around in that too.
If you don't already feed blanched veggies to your pleco - it will enjoy them. In another tank, I've a bristlenose in with some fancy goldies and they all get peeled peas, assorted blanched leafy salad stuff, and blanched zucchini and cuke - they seem to enjoy the zucchini over the cuke though.

Wow, only a couple weeks & they look great! I'd say they like what they've been getting.
