Hi!
I have 4 clowns which I`m quite sure have "skinny disease".
I live in Norway and Levamisole is not possible to obtain. It can`t be imported either because of new governement restrictions on importing medications.

Therefore; Anyone who can help me with some alternatives (if any) to Levamisole??

It`s a bit urgent as one of the clowns is quite thin now!

Can you get Flubendazole?

I can get hold of Flubenol 15... I believe this contains Flubendazole???
Or am I wrong?

From what I know, Flubenol-15 is the trade name for Flubendazole. It is available as the discus product 'Wormer Plus' which we have found it to work wonders on skinny loaches at our shop.

I always ask Shari these questions. I know nothing about treatments, but I recently tried Flubendazole and Levamisole on clowns. I lost them, but I think they were too far gone. I wish you much better luck.

Sounds like Flubenol is made from Flubendazole.

Turns out I might have problem with Flubenol aswell But i know I can get Prazi Pro. (Norway is hopeless in cases like this. MANY strikt and stupid import-laws)

God knows there's alot of illegal pig de-worming going on there..lol.

Apparently all the above mentioned are now illegal here in Norway!
New rules as of 3 weeks ago.

However; there is a product called Furanol from JBL which I hav seen for myself in the shop-shelves, so this is deffinetly not illegal. The effective ingredient in this is Nifurpirinol. Anyone out there who knows about this product and if so; will it help against "skinny disease"??

Here is the most concise item I found. Apparently it is an antibiotic, not a wormer.

Can you get a wormer for dogs and cats over the counter?
Perhaps for young ones, puppies and kittens? If so, what is the active ingredient in that medicine?

Panacur is available. The active ingredient is Fenbendazol.
Is this an option???

My b....y problem is that the meds will be confiscated in customs!! And if so happens, I will be charged and fined for smuggling!!
I know this is hard to believe and indeed understand, but Norway have extremely strict regulations - for good and for bad, i guess - Maybe there simply is no solution for me in this case, unless I (hopefully with help from the forum) can find a medication which is sold over the counter in Norway.

Is this for definite? It's just that they are very strict on medications over here too, but Wormer Plus is allowed to be sold as it comes under the Small Animal Exemption Scheme.
I think we have got one of the JBL products to try (arrived the other day) but haven't used it as yet, so unfortunately can't comment on that.
I can understand your frustration as all you want to do is make your fish better.

Difficult for me to say if its definitive. But as it was passed 3 weeks ago, I doubt that they will change it soon enough for me to save my Loaches

Have you heard about this Panacur (Fenbendazol), that I mentioned? I remember I used it to treat my cat over 10 years ago. But if it cures Botias, I have absolutely no idea

No, I'm really sorry - I don't have any experience with that product. You would have to be very careful as it may well contain other ingredients that are ok for cats/dogs but which may be harmful to fish. Hopefully someone else will chime in on this with more ideas or if they have used this product safely and successfully.
