Tankmates for Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki.

Hello,

I am planning a small planted tank for these guys and was wondering what everyone (anyone) thought of my ideas for tank mates and how large the tank should be. I am looking for a relatively small tank and thought a standard ten might work but keep in mind I have not set anything up yet. I have five zebra danios that I don't like in their current tank and was hoping to have them in this new tank with 5 sidthimunki and 3 or 4 peacock gudgeon (Tateurndina ocellicauda). Would these fish get along, everything I have read says they are all more or less peaceful, but I thought I should check. I am not married to the idea of a ten gallon but was hoping to keep it as small as possible without harming the fish.

Thanks

I think I would start with a 20 long, or 29 as a home for a nice school of sids, then add a school of something that prefers the upper regions. Danios might be fine.

A 10 is really a small tank, and not a lot of room for these playful fish.

If I used a 20 long or 29, how many sids could I have?

Personally I would go with the 29 and have a group of around 10 sids this would then give you space for some upper water fish like Danios or Rasboras.

I would also suggest a couple of good internal power filters to create plenty of flow, I have found that in tanks with slow moving water sid's tend to be more reclusive but with plenty of flow they are always active.
