Birthday present from the hubby.

Post by fish_frenzy » Wed May 07, 2008 2:08 am

I am sooo excited! Today I got a 6 foot, 140 Gallon tank for my birthday! My clowns are getting a bigger better home...I can't wait to set it up, unfortunately, it's too big to fit through the door! Friends are coming to help us move it in through a window...lol.

That is a great birthday gift. A 6ft 140 gallon is an excellent sized tank.

So how many tanks do you have now?

I'd love to see more pics of the wonderful fish you have, especially the clowns!

Hey Tammy, can I borrow your husband just long enough for my birthday? There is this wonderful tank down at the LFS...

Sounds like quite a tank! So big you have to move it in through a window!
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I will definetely take pictures when it is set up and ready to go.

This makes our 2nd 6 foot tank, but the first one that will be centered around my loaches ( I am so hooked on loaches). In total, we will have 20 tanks set up, almost 800 Gallons.

I will try to get more pictures posted chefkeith, my loaches are so camera shy, even at feeding time they just KNOW I have the camera out!

They little Striatas, Kubs and Clowns I purchased about 3 weeks ago are doing very well. All have gotten a little pudgy and they eat like it's their first feeding ever. The Clowns have doubled in size (all but 1, the smallest) and the Striatas stripes have turned almost an orange color (they were silvery when I bought them)

 Actually, we live in a 1000 sq foot, 1 bedroom basement suite. Not alot of furniture, let me tell you... I have a very understanding hubby, fortunately for me, he is as addicted & dedicated to this hobby as I am. We actually do alot of rescues and rehoming. Quite often, he brings me home "surprises", though I haven't had a bag of fish plopped onto my lap lately....maybe he has finally stopped.

It's easier to control this addiction when one partner is not a fishaholic, but when both are hooked...

I was just commenting on this to my husband (as we set up our seventh tank in 750 square feet). Every time I get the inane idea to add a tank "you know, if we moved X furniture , we could fit in Y tank...," he agrees.

It's probably good we only have 750 square feet to work with.

Ah, but can you extend :?: That is what we are planning on doing so that we can have a bigger tank built for the clown loaches. It's a couple of years off yet, but it will happen! 8)

no, it's a condo. Any extending would be into the neighbor's bedroom. Believe me, we've thought about it ;)

but we can move! Just won't be for another year or two. We're still newish at this fishkeeping business, so I don't think pacing ourselves is a bad thing ;)

I'm very excited about your planned remodel as well!
