Hi,

does anyone know how Longischistura striata reproduce and how I can help them along?

Hi fasfus, welcome to Loaches Online.

Not a lot is known about the reproductive habits of many loach species - indeed, only a handful have been successfully spawned and raised in captivity. Longischistura striata (http://www.loaches.com/species-index/lo ... ra-striata) is not exported all that often, so even less is known about them. They are often confused with Schistura beavani which is a slightly more common sight in the shops. Both are Nemacheiline loaches, which are egg layers. There have been a couple of reports of some Schistura species breeding in the home aquarium, but details were very sketchy. Hi Emma,

thank you for the welcoming and extensive help. I'll read up on the material.
With the help of this website I decided already that size, shape and coloration of the striata more closely resemble my loaches than the beavani do. Though it would be nice, if the site would go into deeper detail about the differences between the two species.
