sorry for the long time away

Post by Andor » Thu Jun 26, 2008 2:37 pm

Hi every one :)

sorry for the long time away.

i cleaned my filter out, and changed half a tank of water.

fixed every thing for 4 weeks, but now the one fish is going loco

and looks ill, but acts fine most of the time, but some times
sits gasping for air at the surface?!?!? Mad clowns!

i with i will do a total clean of the filter and replace 50% again
see if that fixes it :(

Are you doing water changes? Or was it that the last water change you did was a month ago? Maybe he needs more frequent water changes? Or if you are cleaning your filter or replacing ALL media at once, perhaps you are cycling again? I'm certainly not an expert, though!

Not that I'm an expert but...how are you cleaning the filter? If you use anything but tank water to clean the sponges (assuming your filter uses sponges) could destroy your biologic filtration. Lukewarm tap water may or may not kill you biologic filter. Really cold or hot water is a 100% biologic filter killer. Do you have a test kit for ammonia? If your biologic filter got killed off then ammonia could be going through the roof.

Good luck.
