Could you please help identify the species of this fish?

I'm going to just post a link, this fish died and I only have a good picture of him after he passed away. I would love to know what species he is. He is in good shape but please do not click the link if it bothers you.

I'm no help on the ID, but it looks like the fish had some very interesting coloration and patterning. Sorry about your loss.

How big was that loach, Curtis? I am thinking adult Botia rostrata. We will have to try and update the site with a few more pics of mature adult B. rostrata because even the pics we currently have up as adults are not fully reticulated in their markings. I think Mad Duff has/had some nice mature ones in the past which showed red colouration on the fins.

The fish is around 4 to 5 inches long and possibly 4-5 years old.

i was thinking rostrata as well, i have a young one with a similar pattern.

I would say B. rostrata, it is very similar to a couple of my adults.

MD, do you still have those cool pics of your B. rostrata that you posted a while back? They showed the red-orange finnage and the reticulated pattern. I think we should add one to the main species page to show what an adult can look like. If you want me to add them into the main site (I don't mind), could you email me the pics.
