Acanthocobitis rubidipinnis!

Post by Graeme Robson » Tue Jul 15, 2008 10:01 am

I purchased 6 of these Acanthocobitis rubidipinnis the other month whilst just browsing around one of our lfs's. My apologizes regarding the picture quality...... i still haven't purchased a new camera. At first these chaps where pretty plain in colouration but after some good feedings and time to settle in their environment, it seems that they have coloured up well. Here's a few pictures. :D

Very nice Graeme :)

I was very tempted by these the last time I went over to Neils but ended up not getting them, after seeing those pics I really wish I had.

O-O another favourit, I´ll look for it around my area as well - fabulous. I love their "Schnaps-nose" as well.

I was resisting some Crimson Schistura recently (and they were nice and young...), I was too lazy to put up the q-tank (and I´m too crowded as well - but I can keep looooking, right?)

I´m not sure If I could resist those, ...hmmm...

Actually, looks like I may have seen one recently, it looked so nece into my eyes, i could have taken it right away, but I did not trust it somehow...territorial, perhaps? And only one single chap, may make it worse...
I guess it is a customer return, they did not know what it was neither...and returns may have areason to be returned.

I´ll check the store next time I get in that area...just checking

Thanks everyone! :D

The blurry pictures i posted above where indeed the the males which show the extreme colouration when in breeding/good mood conditions. Out of the six i purchased, only 2 are males which to me seems like the perfect ratio.

Mark and Wasserscheu, from my observations they all can look pale in appearances but once settled into a environment they like they do colour up (males any-hows  ). Here's a few more pictures of the Lady's and one huffy male (not like his glowing pal).

Do you have them on their own, Graeme? These were one of my favourite ex-loaches. They can be pretty territorial, but they're one of the loaches that seem really aware of what's going on outside the tank. They come to know feeding time rather well.
Your vantage point determines what you can see.

Indeed i do Mark....these chaps are only the bottom dwelling fish. I've re-homed my 8 Puntius fasciatus (seen here>> http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php ... sc&start=0 with them into the 45gal.

I can understand why we can bond really well with these Loaches........
