A question to the owners of Pangio anguillaris

Hi,
please look them on the heads

Last year I have noticed that my P. anguillaris had different heads, but I don't know is it disease or could this be an sexual dimorphism (I have never heard or read about). I mean that only my males have this bumps, the female with eggs in the belly (?) has a plain head. I have found some Pics from last year and I hope you can see what I mean.

I think left male, right female

Both with bumps, males(?)

No bump - no male?
I've tried to get some detail shots and merge the pics, but the result is not so good as I've hoped - left male, right female
Can someone here see this bumps at his own P. anguillaris, too? Or have I too much fantasy?
Sadly the female died, and today I've only one of the old "bumpmale" and one new female (not sure, but definitly no bump)

I have made some brand new Photos:
Not so usefull for the topic but nice to see...

I know it's not a really good photo, but I think it shows some interesting details of the markings. In this size eel-kuhlis are really beauties. I'm fascinated.
Ok, back to topic.
Here is a "lucky shot", I thought I take only a shot of the male, and then I see that the female (i call they so, but of course I'm not sure if this is right) is on the pic too.

Hi Thomas
I havent got any of these at the moment. However, you are right as one can clearly see a difference. Nice shots.

Ive just had a look through all my
Pangio photos and the
P.anguillaris is the only one I have no pictures saved of
Il try to get some in the next few days-I have a group of 10 so hopefully if it is indeed a sexual difference there should be some of each, should be interesting trying to capture them-mine are never out when Im around
Well spotted

Hi,
I have been reading this thread with interest, because I do have a few, but they have been staying under the sand. I have never noticed bumps on their heads. I will keep a closer eye, and see if I see anything. My pictures are no where near as good as yours. Mine are so small and thin, it is very difficult to see any detail.

I'm with Tanja. Mine seem to spend most of their time in the substrate, but I've never seen that kind of bump before. To my eyes the bumps do not look typical.

I have news
Today I could take a closer shot from the P. anguillaris with the "Bumphead", and the pectoral fin says it is really a male.

I'm sure this is a male, do you agree?
I hope I can make a good photo from the females pectoralfin to compare.
And I hope I can buy finally some more of them. This one I have about 5 years and I remember that the bumps came after a few years.
Bye,
Thomas
