I had something very similar happen maybe 3 days ago. I recorded it using the digital camera and thus it was very poor quality due to the auto-focus.
Fingers crossed for you

same as Bully with the auto focus, if i'd waited for the green light the fish would have gone, thats why their slightly blurred.
it was that paleing out and the metallic sheen on the lateral that caught my attention.

I'll do some editing on the video to see if I lighten it a little, and I'll post it up. It will be much later on though
There was a fair bit of chasing, and a lot of nose-to-vent action going on. I can never tell though whether it's amorous or hierarchy

What I have noticed is that the most gravid females rarely get the attention, although I think it may be due to alpha status??

Looking good Mick
I do get a lot hierarchy squabbles among my shoal which do tend to get more animated and last longer among the males when the females are starting to plump up, I have noticed on more than one occasion now that the females when gravid resemble gravid female yoyo's in that they look almost triangular when viewed from the front and at this point the males are almost constantly at each other.

Here's the vid. Apologies for the quality, it was taken using the digital camera

There's not a whole lot to see.

Bully, i am sure those fish were actually spawning, i saw them quivering and that to me is when the eggs are expelled, could be wrong but i've seen that quiver to many times from different species of fish.
hopefully if there's loads of nooks and crannies you might see some youngsters in the near future.

Hopefully you have caught something great on video there Bully, if it didnt happen there it may have been leading up to something because that is exactly what I see in my males when the females are plumped up including the quivering.
It is quite a sight to see 3 or 4 males all great out spinning and quivering around each other.
The time I am 100% certain my sids spawned all 36 adults were swimming in a very tight shoal darting in and out of the rock work and caves etc.

Thanks for the observations chaps
I imagine 36 Sids in a shoal is a sight to behold Mad Duff
Mick, there's loads of rock work in the tank, though I doubt there's anywhere that an adult Sid couldn't get into, they get in to some impossible spaces. I added even more stones last week to coincide with the Catappa leaves that arrived and so maybe something will survive. I have cherry shrimp that are managing to maintain a population, so there must be some chance of survival.
With any luck we'll all have something to report

After all this talk about sid's I thought I would get some photo's to put upload, to my surprise it looks like I have some more young in there
Not long after I found young last time I did a couple of large cool water changes and added some Indian Almond leaves but never noticed any activity out of the ordinary, while taking some pics I noticed a little sid sat next to a slightly larger sid and an adult appeared in front of them and it was then that I realised I now have 3 different sizes of fish in there.
Here is a photo taken just after I first saw them, large adult bottom left - young from last spawn top left - and smallest in tank possible second spawn top right:

Will you folks stop it please... I'm getting far too jealous and may have to steal all your fish as you sleep.
