Small loach suitable for community

Post by jen09 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 2:17 pm

Hi all. I currently have a siamese fighter (very friendly) and keep him in a 60litre tank with guppys(yes, I do know but they get on great) and some cardinal tetras. At the moment I seem to have a big snail problem. I know a botia won't get rid of them all but hopefully keep them in check. Is there any botias that will be ok to keep with my siamese? Any other suggestions? I have tried the lettuce trick/glass trick and reduced feeding. reducing fish food seems to leave my fish very hungry :(.

Had my tank for over a year now and is nicely planted but snails v. annoying. Please help.

Try to get some Assassin snails, they will do the job. Tank is rather small for any botias and they shouldn't be thought as a solution for a snail problems.

Janma is right, loaches really should be kept for their own sake, not as a clean up operation or snail cull.

had you tried trapping the snails, or using more meaty food to entice the snails?
