RIP V. maassi...

Today, I found my last V. maassi dead. The fish hid much of the time, but I would usually see at least part of the fish just about every day.
The fish was very swollen so I thought I would open it up to see if I could find a reason. Well, when I opened it up, I found eggs and lots of fluid.
What a shame. This was a very nice specimen, very fat and colorful.
It will probably be a long time before I ever see this species again. :(

I'm sorry Jim. How long had you had it? I've only had mine a short while & they are cool fish.

You know Jim I think Uncle Ned may still have some if you need a New England road trip. Nothing like new fish to relieve the sadness.

I've probably had this fish 4-5 years.
As far as Uncle Ned's, I would normally be going up that way to visit my friends in Uxbridge, but they moved to Knoxville, Tenn.

Bummer, Jim. I've still never had the pleasure of seeing these chaps first hand.
