Loaches Online Forum

These showed up at my LFS last week and I couldn't resist, so I got 3. This is the first time I've seen B. histrionica in the flesh, They also got some B. rostrata in and it was a tough choice but I chose the histies after reading opinions here. They're about 1 1/4 inch and living in a 10 gal with a few rescues where I can Q them for a month or so while I get my new 75 up and running. They've been shy since I got them 3 days ago and finally came out today for a photo shoot!





These g. zebrinus have been in the q tank for about 2 weeks now. I came home for lunch and they were really going at it! Chasing each other all over the tank, nose to nose in a pushing match to see who was the strongest. This went on for quite a while I snapped shots of these usually skittish fish. Wish I had a video camera. it was great to watch. They're young, maybe an inch long. Have any of you witnessed this behavior?

Those are some really beautiful fish there. If my LFS had them I don't think I'd be able to resist getting them either.

Thanks all, glad you like them. They're so much alike I'm having a difficult time telling them apart. Also having a difficult time resisting the rostratas. I had intended to just keep Kubotai in my new tank until these showed up.

Don't mind at all Janma, your's would fit right in!

I wanted to post a few pics to show how fast these fish have grown! I came back from 3 weeks in Thailand and it seemed like they had doubled in size. They were about 1 1/4-1 1/2 inch when I got them in Sept. My Kubs were probably 2 1/4- 2 1/2 at the time. They've left the Kubs in the dust and the biggest is now a good 3 in. Markings have changed a bit too. They were identical and now easily told apart.

The smaller one upper right has developed a gray sheen. i'm wondering if this could be a male characteristic?

You can see how much bigger they are than the Kubs.

they all look gorgeous guys, i wish my LFS could get these in. its usually a struggle for me to find yoyo loaches, clowns are readily available, but nothing else

Beautiful loaches! It's surprising how fast they've grown. I hope my baby histies do as well.

Good finds! I picked up some real young Botias about a month ago sold as kubotai. This shop usually only carries kubotai and clowns so they're probably kubs. They do look like histies however, I'm anxious to see what they end up turning out to be.

Has anyone ever seen Histies or young Kubs listed as Yoyos in any of your LFSs? I saw what looked like histies (they were about 2 inches long and had the same color pattern as the pictures above) but were listed as yoyos.
