Lonely clown loach

Post by julylamb2000 » Wed Oct 01, 2008 11:21 pm

Hi everyone...I'm new to this forum. I've had 6 clown loaches for about 5 years. While on vacation, my tank got infested with Ich and I lost 5 of them. Now the remaining clown seems "depressed". Should I get more to replace the others...even though they will be much smaller? Also, we will be moving in about a month and the fewer fish I have to move the better. Will it be ok to wait on getting the new fish or will the remaining clown die from loneliness? I'm really kind of depressed about the whole thing because those clowns were my pride and joy. I even told my husband that if they all died I might just give up the tank. Especially since money is tight and we're expecting our 2nd baby. Any advice would be appreciated. TIA

I'd wait until after you've moved to get more fish, otherwise they'd have the stress of the move in addition to that of being bought.

I think the mix of sizes will be fine, but if you'd prefer larger fish then you could see if there are any needing rehomed near you. Plenty of people buy them without realising how big they get.
