To whomever might be interested....
I saw someone mention in another thread that the species index was undergoing some changes.
I had started up a fish web site that I've pretty much dismissed as a failure. www.fishiz.com. However, I did have a cool idea for species profiles and other info - a WIKI.
You can see the virtually empty wiki I created here:
www.fishiz.com/wiki
For those of you not familiar w/wiki technology - it's a sharing tool. The way the wiki above is setup, anyone from the public can go and edit any of the pages in the wiki.
This way, with fish profiles, whoever has info on a particular type of fish can simply add or edit what is already there.
Of course the problem w/this is people posting bogus info. But hopefully w/something like a loach species index there wouldn't be too much malicious intent out there. lol
Another way to solve this is to restrict access, which can also be done.
In any case... do you guys thing a wiki would be a good idea for a loach species index? I would be more than happy to recreate the wiki to be more loach-oriented. If there is anything else you guys think would be useful to have on fishiz.com as well, please let me know. I'm on the verge of just taking it down and parking the domain name.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

PS - here is the sole example of an actual fish profile that got entered into the wiki.... I had one enthusiastic member but even he abandoned the site after he realized nobody else was usin it. lol
