I am getting started with a river tank and also could use some suggestions. I have a 36 inch long 30 gallon tank in this tank I plumbed an undergravel grid to get directional flow. “Just like you did” I have two aquaclear 30s and two over the back aquaclear 70s as well as a fluval 405. Lighting is by way of a Coralife Lunar Aqualight with one 96 watt 10k one 96 watt 6700 and two one watt lunar. The tank is cycled and running but needs to have some inhabitants moved out, corys and some glo lites that had to be moved. I have 3 of what I believe to be Homaloptera yunnanensis, Two Homaloptera tweediei, two Beaufortia kweichowensis and one Pseudogastromyzon cheni. I cant seem to grow any algea? How do you post pics on here? Or can you?

You'll certainly get algae with that kind of light. Just takes time. Unless you're injecting CO2 and have a heavily planted tank, its likely you'll grow some of the more unattractive algae, such as black brush/beard, though.

As a suggestion, you may want to consider keeping some rocks in a tupperware container with unobstructed sunlight. Easy to get it covered with green spot. Then just keep switching rocks for a treat. Little ammonia to feed the algae in such a fishless setup wouldn't hurt either.
