As the title...........yet another question. i have three clown loaches in my 4ft tank and only the small ones swims around in the day. The larger ones also swim about at the odd time but when i go close to the tank they swim off into the cave. but if i stay there long enough they come out, then the slightest movement scares them back into the cave. Why is this?

Mine do the same thing. I fugire its because there are not used to people being aroung all the time. Mine will run all over the tank at night but if I am watching them they all hundle in one cave.
The local fish store where I got my large clowns (6" plus @$45US) from has the two tanks of large Clown loaches. The ones for sale are reclusive and hide behind the driftwood. The ones they have on "display only" (owners collection of unique pattern ones) swim out in the open and will feed from the owners hands. The display ones are by the cash register, since they are use to seeing different people regularly, so they don't don't get spooked.

must be because they dont see many people then. my tank was in the other room at my old house so i never used to see them that often, but now i have moved and they're in the living room where there's always someone there apart from when i'm at work. they come out at feeding time and at night time but got no chance of seeing them unless i hide on the sofa and watch themm that way, lol.
