Hi Everybody!
I'm hoping some Loach experts can give me some feeding tips for my new loaches.
I introduced five 2"+ Clowns to my main tank last week where 7 zebra danios and 6 baby albino bn plecos live.
They currently don't come out at feeding time and I'm just wondering if anyone has a food they would suggest to put in that won't cloud the water but will leave a food source for them? I've tried frozen bloodworms, shrimp pellets, tubifex cubes, nls, algae waffers and they don't come out of hiding for any of it so far.

Hi Kup's,

Welcome to LOL :)

It usually takes a while for new clown loach to settle into their new home, and they may not appear for a few days-a few weeks. Its nothing to worry about, they just need a bit of time to adjust-I can assure you that they are most likely out when your not around or the lights are out ;)

Best advice I can give you, is to feed as normal and then add some food just before you go to bed with the lights out. It sounds like you are feeding them a nice variety of foods. You could try Hikari carnivore pellets-my clown loach go crazy over these, also make sure that your tank has plenty of hiding places-the more you have the more likely they are to come out, sounds weird, but it does work ;) Are your dithers out and about in your tank or do they hide away-it helps if you have some confident dithers about, other that... a bit of patience and they will come around eventually.

Try to stick a piece of raw zucchini in there. You have to weigh it down somehow - I attach them with a rubber band to a piece of rock. I have a 4-5 inch new clown that hasn't adjusted after 3 months - it hides most of the time. But it will come out for zucchini. The BNs will love it anyway, so it won't hurt to try.

Thanks

Thanks for the help! I'm going to give these a try and see if they start coming out at feeding time!

Live food is always a good idea. I always offer brine shrimp and Enchitreus albidus wich I have a few cultures here:

Also apreciated are bloodworms. They love it!
