Just wanted to report in on my 75 gallon tank.
For substrate, I used Home depot regular garden soil, some play sand, pvc plumbing to make some tunnels, rock and silicone wall to keeep the soil and sand seperate. Very cheap stuff, under 10 bucks for all the substrate. There are probably a few dozen ramshorn snails somewhere there. The plants are some species that accidenty came with the snails and christmas moss. The moss is attaching to the soil, and starting to spread out like a lawn (probably 10% covered so far). The water was very cloudy and murky to start with, but with almost daily filter cleanup for two months, the water has cleared up beautifully, and its almost crystal clear now. For filtration, I am using 4 hob filters, so I can clean filters one at a time.
There are about 20 feeder fish from 1 inches to 2.5 inches in the tank for about 2 months. Now for the loaches. Yesterday, I got 5 Yoyos, each about 1.5 inches long and 6 clowns, each about or less than one inch in lenght. There is a Gold Severum and a Dwarf Gourami in there too cause my roomate just wanted them. And everyone seems to be doing just fine

I will put up pics up soon. I am now looking for a DIY or cheap option for wood, and other decorations and hidey holes. Let me knwo if you got any ideas.
Cheers
