Cobitis, Iksookimia or what?

Hi,

I've got new loaches, ordered as Cobitis chinensis. This Name seems not valid and I thought I get some Cobitis sinensis... Today I bring home a very big fishbag, and what I can say is that there are three C. sinensis but maybe all others are another Species or eventually another genus. The patterns looks a bit similar to some Iksookimia.

What do you think? The Stockliste says they are from China, but it seems that Iksookimia not occours in China. Which Cobitis could this be?

They longest are 12cm (4,7 inch) and looks very huge.

First pics:

I'm confused about the patterns of the back. Looks not so Cobitis like

I think the brighter one could be a C. sinensis

This one is darker but the patterns look very similar to the one above.

Any ideas?

Bye,
Thomas

I'll have a look at my books tonight and see what I can find. Any idea where in China they are supposed to be from?

Thanks Dark! Sadly I can only say that they should be from china. I have no information to limit it nearer.

Some look like Cobitis melanoleuca (this is a very widespread species, with perhaps some subspecies that have not yet been adequately recognised).

The longer ones have a look of Iksookimia longicorpa, albeit again, this is a variable fish. They may have come from southern China or via China from Korea.

Many thanks Dark! I think I will name them only Iksookimia sp. but I'm happy that you think also they could be Iksookimia.
