B. dario spawning activity

With all the adoption meetings etc I have struggled to keep up to date with water changes etc as much as I would usually, anyway while sorting out the tank containing my group of dario's the other day a problem arose so they were temporarily housed in a 3ft with on their own.
I noticed at the time of moving them that out of the group of 5 fish two were quite porky and the other 3 chunky but slim but never thought anything of it.
Last night I noticed that they were extremely active compared to normal and two fish were following the fattest fish while another one was following the other fat fish and they were racing around the tank for ages, about an hour after I first noticed this activity I looked in again and there were a couple of pits dug into the gravel and all 5 fish were layed in a third pit in the corner of the tank
What with one thing and another I didn't get chance to sit and watch them which was a little annoying so had to just leave them to it, this morning when I went to have a look in the tank there are around 6 pits dug into the gravel around the tank and the fattest fish is no longer fat. I couldn't see the other fat fish so searched around and found her body in a pipe
She had been dead for quite a while and had lost all of her colouration apart from a green tint around the vent area, knowing kuhli's get a green tint when carrying eggs I decided to give the body a slight squeeze and out squirted some very small green eggs, she certainly wasn't as fat as she was last night so I have removed the other 4 fish back to their original tank and I am going to see if anything turns up over the next few days.

Often, accidental spawnings come about when someone moves fish into temporary housing for one reason or another. Keep us posted!
