Hello all,

I recently performed a routine filter maintenace on my HOB filter, which required me to replace the white sponge media. Since I have done this, the filter suction has increased dramatically, causing me to loose a guppy and two of my weaker (smaller) rummy nose tetras. I have read that some LOL members use filter intake sleeves to protect their pangios and assorted smaller loaches from this fate. does this work? if so, where is a good place to find these, or, are they home-made.

Hey Joe, I replied to this on the FW forum. Usually we suggest one thread per issue or things get confusing.

sorry, i wanted to get a wider range of responses as i was not certian if the same group of experts frequents both forums. Won't do it again, thank you for the warning.

I use Aqua Clear filter sponges cut ~1.5 x 1.5 x 3 inches & slice the center not quite through to fit over the intake.
