Hello, Gastro fans.
I was able to obtain two extremely rare Gastro luckily yesterday.
Gastromyzon viriosus（Yellow Finned Hillstream Loach）

There is not yet the too good picture. But I introduce several pieces.
When they were in the tank, they have begun to compete against ex-chief priest fish immediately without flinching.

Hi Jim and folks.

It has passed for one week since they came.
They're surviving for the moment.

A considerable numerical individual seems to be imported into Japan and come this time.
I don't understand mechanism of trade of a tropical fish well.
Maybe, it is guessed that there is arrival of this Gastro species also in other countries.
When the internet information is being seen, I think the fish species received at Europe and Japan is similar.
They may be received at aqua shops in neighborhood .

I only keep one of these chaps, i found him as a contaminant over 2 yrs ago. One of my fav sucker Loaches.

Seeing fish like this makes me check out Gastromyzon shipments even more than I did before. It took me several years to find zebrinus, so I might find one of these in another decade or two.

What a nice looking fish. Nice photos Odyssey. I must say I find the Gastromyzon Genus really fun to watch. I have to try getting a few different species in. I think it was really bad finding this web site lol. I can see me setting up a few more tanks saying ‘sorry these fish belong to Jon.

I knew about their form for the first time with Emma's beautiful pictures in August of 2008.

The situation seems different depending on countries.
G.zebrinus is the species we can get easily in Japan.
But G.ocellatus is rarely received at stores.
I'm always checking out G.ocellatus shipments,too.

Yeah i got lucky when i found him. Back then we never knew of this species and just called him a unknown.

After I searched for the internet, I found the following site. Oct 28,2008

Another species comes out in the right picture together with G.viriosus.
Its species is transcribed with G.ocellatus, but I think it isn't G.ocellatus.
I seem that's probably a group of Hypergastromyzon, and of the same species with the fish I got this month.

As expected, it seems that G.viriosus and Hypergastromyzon.sp are imported at the same time.
I think the 2 species have a high possibility captured from the same basin.
