One of my big rostrata was out and about last night, usually this one disappears as soon as the camera is within 10ft of the tank but last night it didn't bother so I made the most of it and got a few photo's

Wow, I didn't know they had that much orange in the dorsal fin! How big is that fish? Some of my kubs and striatas will do the same thing, but they don't want you to get too close!

He's a beauty. I don't think I've ever seen one at any of the fish stores I've been to. Was he difficult to get?

That one is just under 5", the orange does seem to be getting more intense as it grows, I have noticed recently that one of the other big rostratas has started filling out quite a bit so I am thinking that this is a male and he is getting his spawning colours.

Rostrata do seem a little bit harder to come by than other botia's, I got 3 at around 2" and all just had standard rostrata markings but none of them would now resemble what we would class as standard rostrata markings.

They are normally very bold and out all the time and will take blodworm from my fingers but when they see a camera they vanish
