hi all.
i got a new camera yesterday and took some pics of loaches, i would like your opinions of the pics cos to be honest i'm not that pleased with them.
btw, they have'nt been touched up this is how they come out of the camera.

I really like your B. Loaches, especially the Striata.

Does the camera have white balance settings Mick? The pics are way in the yellow. What model camera is it?

thanks, sorry i did'nt get back to you Martin, been abit busy the last few days.
the camera is a Sony dsc H10, it's 8.1 MP.
the yellow is probably due to the tannins in the water bud, it was due a WC at the time.
compared to my older Sony i just don't think it's as good.
trouble is mate i can't return it as i got it from argos, and they state cameras can't be returned. shit shit shit.

Oh i wouldn't know Mick, it sounds like a decent camera.

Take some pictures from one of your picture tanks/small show tanks and post back.

it might be just me but it sounds like a toytown camera when you operate it and the settings are'nt as good as my older model that was twice the price.

It looks a decent enough camera from the reviews Mick, it could just be a case of playing around with settings and trying different things.

When I got my Nikon D40 I couldn't get a decent shot of a turd mate let alone a fish

I think if that yellow wasn't there there wouldn't be much difference.

i'm wondering if it's the flash casting the pics a yellow?, the first pic was was taken on another setting without the flash.

I think you just need to get used to it mate. When I changed cams a couple of years back it took me a while to get used to the new one. Agree with Martin's comments about the white balance, maybe get the missus to have a crack at adjusting?

Nice ornatus mick. I'm seriously thinking of getting some I saw last weekend. How do you find them?

I only have Canon experience, but I've found that with them the settings that work for fishtography are somewhat generic.

i.e., I've given owners of other Canon models the settings I use and they've instantly got better pictures. It's a case of practice, practice mate and see what works. Eventually, you'll find that camera's sweet-spot.

the ornatus mate are a doddle, i've had them in fast flow and minimum circulation and they've been great in both, they can be very reclusive though although at chow time they come out in the open and stay for a good while.
in a group they are very sociable with no interaction at all, so if i was you i'd get a good shoal of them mate.
