I spent a while bothering my loaches this evening.

First showing off with the macro lens

That was from the lovely Gastromyzon viriosus that we got at the last loach meet (-: A slightly less cropped picture of the same fish:

Another new inhabitant, Gastromyzon zebrinus these are really starting to settle in well and we had our first shoving match last night (naturally when i didn't have the camera to hand!)

I managed to capture a shot of our lovely but very secretive Sinogastromyzon wui hiding under a stone, focus is a little out as it was too dark there for the auto focus to work.

No post would be without a few P. cheni pictures, they are causing chaos as ever.

Nice pics, I too like the zebrinus. They are gorgeous! One of mine has the lower part of the body in a redish hue. They seem to stay smaller than for example the ocellatus.

The single-lens reflex camera is good as expected!
It's possible to judge the detail which has not been seen so far from a high-resolution picture of 2784 x 2428.
Of course it is not only the performance of the camera.
My desire to SLR and macro lens was stimulated.
It'll be bought next year!

They're timid. Therefore the chance which can take a picture of their upper side is rare.

I watched underwater photographs of your Maldives. I have not yet watched Manta ray. I want to go the Maldives in the future, too.

LES.. and odyssey- You two (and farid) have set the photography bar very high indeed. LES.., that close up of the eye really is impressive and the last picture of the cute young one is very nice.

They are a range of sizes, i would say the smallest is just over 2.5cm and the largest is just shy of the 4cm mark. We have 6 in the tank but you rarely see more than 4 at a time (-:

@Odyssey, Sinogastromyzon wui have to be one of the most beautiful hillies out there, yours is an absolute stunner (-: It looks like you have some real characters in your Cehni too.

I'm very happy with the mix of loaches i have now, maybe a few more Wui but we have not been that successful keeping them and definitely a few more G. viriosus (-:

Thanks for all the comments on the photos, i noticed on the monitor at work i need to work on the white balance a bit more, they looked fine on my CRT at home but a little on the green side on the LCD at work, too much valis in the tank messing with the flash!

Fantastic pics, Les! A new batch of Gastros arrived last night, will check them out and let you know if there are any more G. viriosus. There was one absolutely enormous Gastro in that bag, but couldn't see what species it was as it was too dark.
