Loaches Online Forum

The species profile had good info but didn't say if they like to be alone or in a group. They are available here now and I'm quite interested, just need to get as much info on them. They looks very nice on the pictures in species index.

I would imagine that they are a social Loach. I haven't kept these yet but i know that Emma had some in her shop and Martin had a group of four. Nothing was mentioned about them being Territorial with each other and other tank mates (unless i missed something ).

Ok, hope Martin pops in with a comment. I have a Finnish aquarium book that says that males are aggressive towards each other. And it is recommended to be kept alone, don't know why alone if only males are territorial.

Yeah aggressive males can apply within many species of fish, as-long as there is plenty volume of water (tank size) they often tend to have a spat then move off to-wards their own favorite area. Out of the 3 Acanthocobitis loach species that i keep the male Acanthocobitis rubidipinnis's can often have a spat with each other but no harm is visible.

I've found them to be perfect tank mates with Hillstreams. They're extremely good VFM too. Real entertainment value. They're out all the time and always greedy to eat. Since adding the 6 Nemacheilus the other week they're even more out and about. They all shoal together like a pack of playful puppies.

I like them a lot.

Thanks for the info. But as you can read in the Fresh water section they also had a interesting goby and it seems like I'll be getting them. I tried to sweet talk another tank but no luck with that yet, don't want to over populate. I would like to put my Rosy loaches in a species tank since there is alot of spawning behaviour. Then there wouls be room for these and the goby.
