diy rocks

Post by afroturf » Thu Mar 05, 2009 5:05 am

After finding this site a while back I seem to have become a minor loachaholic, I've had a 220ish L tank set up for around a year and would like to set up another this one being about 100L the fish I plan on using are hillies and gobies.

I always love the habitat pics you find like the ones by Nonn on here, and with all my tank I always try to simulate the occupants habitat. This tank will be no different.

I'll be using polystyrene sheets siliconed together and then covered with somthing to give the appearance of rocks. I've seen many methods of creating artifcial rocks most off cichlid forums but most use a cement mix and I'm dont really want to use cement as I'm not sure there would be great health benifits for the loaches who would be continually licking the stuff.

Can anyone give me any hints on what would be the best method to give my polystyrene that rocky look?

afroturf, have a look at the last page of the streamish project thread, you'll see how HX did his with poly.
if you can do anything like his i think it will look great as a background to your tank.
