Suggestion for Loach Profiles
Hey, guys, I know I'm new around here, but I just thought of something that might help in clarifying aquarium sizes for specific loaches. Only the clown loach profile says the minimum/preferred aquarium size for the loach, while the others (i.e. striata, almorhae, sids) don't have any information for what the minimum aquarium size should be, etc. I wasn't sure who to contact about possible adding that information, so I thought I'd just post it on the forums and see what you guys thought.

With regards to the sizes most guideline sizes are automatically taken as TL as they are just that - guideline sizes. Ok there are a few that are out in the species index but as you will know Mick the main problem all federations have with size books is that bigger specimens are always cropping up either wild caught or just really well looked after, so sizes shouls always be taken as a rough guide and nothing moremickthefish wrote:it's a very good idea.
also i look through the species index and the size given per species is sort of vague, what we talking about is it SL or TL,
maybe that should be clarified. don't you think guys?.

i'm still a show boy at heart mate, but i do understand what your saying.
i've had a few and still have a couple of fish from my show days that blew the size out of the water.
i had a female C. gossei that topped 74mm when the size in the book was 65mm for a female.

never take people at face value.
I know what you mean Mick, as a judge it was always hard at Judges meetings deciding if the fish that had blown the show size out of the water was a freak fish or signs of things to come so it would be unfair to up sizes if it was just one freak fish (freak meant in the nicest way).mickthefish wrote:i'm still a show boy at heart mate, but i do understand what your saying.
