Burmese Redfin Barcode Loach

First up, apologies for the poor quality of some of these pics, these loaches are small, very active, and prefer to hide near the back of the tank! I did put them into a photo tank, but their dark colour faded almost instantly - hence why I am including some slightly fuzzy shots from the stock tank, where they were relaxed and coloured up. The supplier is listing these as Burmese Redfin Barcode Loach - Schistura sp. 'tanintharyi', presumably caught from the Tanintharyi (formerly Tenasserim) region of Burma.

The second batch of pictures in the photo tank remind me of baby Schistura mahnerti, *stroke* Burmese Border Loach, Burmese-border sand loach, Red-tail sand loach....etc

I thought Schistura mahnerti as well when I saw the second set of photo's, could it be a variation a bit like balteata

That head shot is beautiful!

I can sure see the difference between main tank and photo tank. The patterns still shows in the photo tank, but the colors of the happier fish are obvious.

Such tiny fish! Such great photos!

Wonderful fish, and excellent pictures, as usual!!

They do look a lot like Schistura Mahnerti, but with less stripes than the ones I have seen. It's hard to believe they are the same fish from the ones in the first pics. But I have Schistura Mahnerti myself, and have seen how quickly they change colour. I have never seen them go dark like that though!

Are these pics all the same fish ? its just the ones in the first few pics look quite different to the rest which look Mahertna like ?

The first few pics look like a different fish

have they changed as they have grown , or is it just the lighting
