Schistura from Western Thailand??

Post by Nonn » Fri Mar 13, 2009 11:38 am

Hi,

I caught this Schistura from Pachy river, in western Thailand. Any idea which species this might be?

We found a lot of this species, which I also cannot ID but found only one of the above species.

Possibility would be S. manerti but it doesn't look like one to me.
Below is same size S. manerti from southern Thailand.

hi, Nonn..,

Sorry I can't help much on the ID, but I must say, how lucky you are to be able to catch these fish in your own backyard!

The fish in the top picture looks of particular interest. It even has a slightly different head shape, unlike a lot of the Schistura I have seen.

Some of the experts should be along soon, and they will be able to help you with ID with such great pictures!

Nonn, i remember you saying that there's a load of Schistura's from western Thailand that are un-known and mixed with similarity's of many. I now know what you mean. I would still love to own them never the less....
